The second of two scripts that inspired the podcast and comes just in time for Alien Covenant. Alien Engineers was the original script that eventually became Prometheus. Released in 2012, Prometheus was originally envisioned as the Alien prequel that had been rumored forever but during production the script was reworked to be a more original sci-fi film about the creation of humanity that just existed in the same cinematic universe. Now the original script still featured all of that, but also a lot more Aliens.

Written By: Jon Spaihts

Logline: set in the late 21st century and centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as it follows a star map discovered among the artifacts of several ancient Earth cultures. Seeking the origins of humanity, the crew arrives on a distant world and discovers a threat that could cause the extinction of the human species.

Well over the next few weeks we are going to covering a couple scripts that were the inspiration of this podcast. They have been mentioned time and time again but haven't been discussed and it's time to rectify that. This first week is a little script written by Kevin Smith called Superman Lives. Maybe one of the most famous un-produced scripts, there's even a documentary about the movies failed production. Now there have been many Superman movies that have already been released, but where does this one fall?

Written by: Kevin Smith

Logline: When Lex Luthor teams up with the cosmic entity Braniac, Superman faces his biggest struggle yet, one that will push him past his limits or see him die trying.

It's a furiously comic book filled episode as today contains a review of Furious 7 and Jeremy's top ten comic book movies of all time featuring titles like Spider-Man and The Dark Knight. Our script for this week is also celebrating the release of our latest comic book movie (Guardians of the Galaxy 2) and is based on one of the most recognizable comic characters of all time. I'll give you a hint. It's not Batman but the other guy. You can find the script on our tumblr www.shelvedfilmpodcast.tumblr.com. You can also follow the show on Twitter and Instagram @shelvedpodcast.

May 5, 2017

This is one of the most anticipated scripts of the show. We wanted to cover this one from the beginning and just had to wait for the right time. With Alien Covenant on the horizon now seemed like the perfect time. Don't worry, we didn't jump the gun on this one because we have another Alien script to cover when Covenant comes out. For now we sit back and look at an AVP script from 1991, inspired by the original 1989 comic book.

Logline: A backwater planet sets the stage for a hunting ground between two of the most ferocious hunters in the galaxy where humans are caught in the middle.

Rob Zombie released his first Halloween remake in 2007 and followed the success of that film with a much less appreciated sequel in 2009. Ever since then the Halloween franchise has been in limbo with a new sequel only announced recently. Whatever happened to a third Rob Zombie movie? We find out this week as we read Halloween 3D, the un-produced sequel in the Rob Zombie line of Halloween films.

Written by: Tod Farmer and Patrick Lussier

Logline: After surviving the end of Halloween 2, Laurie Strode is living in a mental institution with some of Michael Meyer's victims. With Michael believed to be dead, thinks start to become apparent that he might not be as dead as everyone believes.

Apr 21, 2017

Well this week we were originally going to talk about Halloween 3D but we hit a roadblock! Our intended guest was sick, so that script will be discussed on a later show. Instead Jeremy and his wife Amanda decided to save the show by sitting down and discussing their top 10 films of all time! Some of these movies include Star Wars, James Bond, Julia Roberts, and twisted imagery. This is their own personal favorite films, which may be different from yours and that's okay! This weeks episode features a script written in 1980 dubbed, "The greatest Sci-Fi script never made." The host Jeremy Meyer sits down with returning guest Maggie Geimer to find out if this claim holds true. Brought crashing to the ground by a series of behind the scenes infighiting, The Tourist still sits on a shelf to this day with no signs of ever being filmed.

This episode is a special treat. Guillermo Del Toro's script for At The Mountains of Madness is a wonderfully written horror adventure that must be discussed, so the host Jeremy Meyer sat down with returning guest Eric Ziselman to break down a movie that could have been. Put on hold due to the release of Prometheus Guillermo Del Toro felt they were too similar and set his passion project aside but what Jeremy and Eric find is a wonderful read that is worth hearing out.

Writers: Guillermo Del Toro and Matthew Robbins.

Logline: In the 1930's an expedition to Antarctica goes awry when the team stumbles upon an ancient mystery lost to time.

There may be no longer running film franchise than James Bond. James Bond has been a mainstay in films since 1962 and shows no signs of disappearing. It's not hard to believe that there aren't a couple un-produced Bond scripts and we finally tracked one down! James Bond of the Secret Service is the script that eventually became Never Say Never again, which is a remake of the MGM James Bond film Thunderball. This film has a history of it's own that is worth diving in to but for now we are just looking at this early early draft of the film.

LogLine: James Bond has to deal with the villainous organization SPECTRE as they attempt to blackmail the word for control of the Earth's oceans.

Writers: Kevin McClory, Sean Connery, Len Deighton

Well this is the first Black List script to make it onto Shelved. The Black List is a list of scripts circulating Hollywood that have high praise or are highly sought out. Ares is an interesting Sci-Fi script that feels like The Bourne Identity meets The Martian.

Written by Andrew Kevin Walker who also wrote the Spider-Man script we looked at, X-Men was another Walker script that was shopped around in the early 90's. Originally tapped for James Cameron,  he eventually chose Spider-Man as his project and neither ended up coming to fruition. This script is very different from the X-Men movie we got in the early 2000s but is quite an interesting take on the franchise. You can find the script on our tumblr www.shelvedfilmpodcast.tumblr.com. You can follow the show on Twitter @shelvedpodcast. You can also email questions and comments to the show at shelvedfilmpodcast.gmail.com.
