Well I've been in a work coma since Thanksgiving that isn't ending anytime before Christmas. There's one new episode coming for the rest of the year which will be an interview with a very special guest (Next week and you're not going to want to miss this!) This will also be the last repost of the year but I thought I would squeeze one more in while I'm working over 60 hours for the next couple weeks.

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION

In 2009 Dragon Ball Evolution was barfed into cinemas to a much maligned response. It threw away everything that everyone knew and loved about the show and instead presented the most bare bones and boring interpretation of the classic anime/manga. Well little did we know the script to the movie was actually much close to the source material so I brought in my buddy and fellow Dragon Ball fanatic Nick Almendarez, professional wrestler and founder of Freelance Wrestling in Chicago, do discuss the Dragon Ball movie that could have been. Well we are getting ever closer to Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker which is a perfect time to revisit the third episode of the podcast when we looked at George Lucas's original rough draft simply called The Star Wars.

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION

This week Jeremy says the correct email address for the first time as he gathers with his fellow Star Wars geek Maggie to discuss George Lucas’s original rough draft for The Star Wars. This is quite an interesting read that is a must for any Star Wars fan that may have heard the stories but doesn’t know the details. Jeremy and Maggie dive deep into the mind of George Lucas and try to figure out how George Lucas went from this draft, to the Star Wars trilogy we all know and love today.

Today's episode is going to be a little different. An early draft of the Joker script leaked out but honestly there aren't a ton of differences between the script and the final film. There are enough to merit discussion but not enough to fill a whole episode so instead this episode is going to be split in two. The first part will discuss the differences between the script and film and the second half will be a review of the final film.

Written By: Todd Phillips and Scott Silver

Logline: In Gotham City, mentally-troubled comedian Arthur Fleck is disregarded and mistreated by society. He then embarks on a downward spiral of revolution and bloody crime. This path brings him face-to-face with his alter-ego: "The Joker".

So while browsing the podcast feed on Apple Podcasts I noticed that a lot of older episodes are cycling out of the feed. I've decided to start re-posting older episodes on off weeks with no new episode so if you want to go back and listen to them you have the option. I already re-posted the first episode a while back so I'm jumping into the second one which works out because it keeps in the Resident Evil theme. Our second episode looked at the George Romero Resident Evil script. Enjoy.

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION

Well we made it to a second episode! It's officially a podcast. This episode is timed with the release of the new Resident Evil movie in theaters. Resident Evil The Final Chapter. A film series that has spanned 14 years and made hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide, but has always been met with tepid response. Before the series launched, George Romero, the zombie king, turned in a draft to Capcom in 1998 that they then shot down. I sat down with my horror obsessed friend Vinny Malave to discuss this rejected take on the classic franchise.

Happy Halloween everyone! Today is a special bonus episode and our third Resident Evil script of the month. I have a complicated relationship with this series of films and this one is maybe my most conflicted of the bunch, and therefore was the one I was most excited to cover. I hope you enjoy this mid week bonus episode as I discuss Resident Evil Afterlife.

Logline: While still out to destroy the evil Umbrella Corporation, Alice joins a group of survivors living in a prison surrounded by the infected who also want to relocate to the mysterious but supposedly unharmed safe haven known only as Arcadia.

Last week we took a look at the first draft for Resident Evil, the 2002 video game adaptation. This week I continue with the spooky season with a follow up of the second sequel script, Resident Evil Extinction. The script was originally titled Afterlife which would then become the title of the fourth film.

Logline: Survivors of the Raccoon City catastrophe travel across the Nevada desert, hoping to make it to Alaska. Alice joins the caravan and their fight against the evil Umbrella Corp.

Just like today's script I'm back from the dead. It's been a while since I posted the last episode but I dug myself out of my rut and actually got through a few scripts recently. The rest of this month is going to be Resident Evil themed as I take a look at the scripts for the movie's that we actually got versus the George Romero script that we previously covered.

FYI Today's episode comes with a fun drinking game for every time I saw "in the movie."

Logline: A special military unit fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.

Well Marvel phase 3 has officially come to an end with this years releases of Avengers Endgame and Spider-Man Far From Home. It's been 11 years and 23 movies in the making and we have come to the end of the Infinity saga as it's been known. I sit down with former guest Alberto and new guest Frank as we take a look at the franchise as a whole and discuss the future and phase 4.

Well it's been a while since I've posted an episode and while I haven't had time to get through a script I have seen some movies so I thought I would do a quick update and review show! There will probably be more of these to come in the future as life gets in the way of reading. I give a little review on Avengers Endgame, Jessica Jones Season 3, Newness, John Wick 3, and Aladdin. Trying to keep the content coming!

So I am an avid player of video games and the Uncharted series is one of my favorites. It doesn't take a genius to see how the video game series could make a great movie because it already feels so much like a modern take on Indiana Jones. It does however seem impossible to get a movie made because there have already been multiple failed attempts, and I'm going to look at one of those on this episode.

This past weekend was C2E2 in Chicago and I attended the show as press where I was able to sit for the Into the Badlands Season 3 panel. After the showing of the premiere episode I got to join the press pool as we fired questions at Executive producers Miles Millar, Alfred Gough, and Executive Producer/Actor Daniel Wu.

Into the Badlands airs on AMC on 10/9c every Monday.

This episode also features some extra plugs for some new friends. I recently made some friends in the writing community and offered up some free plugs on their work. Be sure to help support the little guy and check out their websites and offers.

Today's episode features an interview with Actor, Producer, and Director Michael Manasseri. Michael was kind enough to call in and discuss his new movie that showed at Sundance, Give Me Liberty. We also discuss what it's like being a producer outside of Hollywood and how tax incentives influence the film business. It's a very fun and educated episode about a side of film making that feels rarely discussed.

Well we are now into 2019 so it's time to do my yearly recap of my favorite movies of 2018. As always this is an incomplete list as there are multiple movies I missed this year that I still want to see. What follows is the list of my top ten movies of 2018 that I did manage to see.

Well the podcast has managed to make it to 50 episodes so today I thought we would do something a little different. This may be a boring episode to some but I have had multiple people reach out to me asking about how they write a screenplay. Some just wanting to know how to get started. Well a big part of my research for my own writing involves breaking down movies I watch into a script format so I thought it would be fun to do the same on the podcast. Now I am by no means an arbiter of what it takes to be a screenwriter. I have no experience in selling a script or making a movie, I just hope that one day I will. This is just my personal advice and take on the best way to get a beginner started. Hopefully anything I say here can inspire the next person to finally take to that keyboard and write a script of their own.

Well this week was supposed to be Freddy vs Jason but that episode might be moved to Halloween or the first November episode due to some scheduling conflicts and personal news (that I can't talk about yet.) So instead of missing a week I decided to get some reviews up on some shows that I just finished watching this weekend. First off is two Marvel Netflix season in Daredevil Season 3 and Jessica Jones Season 2. I also throw in Supergirl Season 1 as I just finished that on my way to marathon all of the DC TV shows to get to the Batwoman cross over.

Before we had Marvel studios and the MCU there are often three movies credited with reviving the superhero movie genre. Blade, X-Men, and Spider-Man. Well did you know that there was almost a Venom movie in there and could have even released before Spider-Man? It took us until 2018 to finally get a Venom movie which has been very successful despite it's bad reviews, but what would a 1998 Venom movie have been like? I didn't plan on doing two Marvel movies in a row but sometimes that's just how it works.

Little Evil is a Netflix film that quickly caught my attention because of the cast. It features a lot of actors that I think are very funny or am a big fan of. I decided to throw it on for Shocktober and see if the movie lived up to the caliber.

Today's episode is an interview with Elle LaMont. Elle is a actress and producer based out of Austin Texas. While Elle has credits spanning many films and shorts (Including Machete Kills and From Dusk Till Dawn The Series) she will be appearing in Alita: Battle Angel set to release on February 14th, 2019. Elle discusses how she got into the business and managed to cross over from acting into producing and how she hopes to empower other female creatives. We also talked about the difference between working in film between Texas and LA.

This is a movie that I have been dying to see since it's first trailer. It had always eluded me until it recently popped up on Netflix. I know a lot of people were put off by the accurate 1600's way of speaking, but does this movie live up to the hype?

I am a fairly casual manga fan and while I was always interested in Death Note, I never actually got around to reading it. Since the movie dropped on Netflix I always saw it as maybe a gateway into the source material. Well after the movie I started reading the books, but what does that say about the film?

I swear I didn't watch this many Stephen King movies on purpose! This was actually the first film I watched of the season and it just got pushed down the line of reviews. Based on what is known as King's magnum opus, does the movie live up to the book series?

"The last Gunslinger: Roland Deschain, has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim, also known as the Man in Black, and determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower that holds the universe together. With the fate of the world at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle, as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black."
