Well the last episode we talked about Curse of Chucky. It's only right to follow that up with the newly released sequel Cult of Chucky. This may be one of the more exciting one-two punch movie surprises I've ever experienced. "Chucky returns to terrorize his human victim, Nica. Meanwhile, the killer doll has some scores to settle with his old enemies, with the help of his former wife."

A horror franchise six films deep doesn't deserve to be this good. This film really feels like the reinvention of a franchise, and one that seemed impossible to bounce back from after the last entry. "After her mother's mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to recent bloodshed and chaos."

The Strangers is a movie I remember coming out when horror films were kind of in a slump and getting a lot of praise. Not for lack of trying I just never got around to seeing it. This was the year to finally rectify that, which has been a theme for this year's Shocktober. "A young couple staying in an isolated vacation home are terrorized by three unknown assailants."

Well I saw the original at the beginning of Shocktober, now it's time to talk about the feature film released in September. You heard my thought's on the IT mini series, now here what I feel about the movie. "A group of bullied kids band together when a shapeshifting demon, taking the appearance of a clown, begins hunting children."

Well the Conjuring is one of the most talked about big budget horror films in recent years. The movie was wildly successful and has created it's own line of sequels and spin offs. It was one I hadn't gotten around to seeing but I finally corrected that. "Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse."

This movie made quite a buzz at film festivals and the initial trailer definitely caught my interest. The title and trailers may be misleading, and it's got some hype behind it, the question is does it live up to all of that? "Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, a man has established a tenuous domestic order with his wife and son. Then a desperate young family arrives seeking refuge."

I always thought the story behind the making of this movie was interesting. I knew the movie got some lukewarm to bad reviews, but I felt like I needed to give it my attention and give it my own thoughts. "Rebecca must unlock the terror behind her little brother's experiences that once tested her sanity, bringing her face to face with an entity attached to their mother."

I have to say, I didn't know what to expect from this movie, but I knew it wouldn't be what I wanted. Despite reviews, I felt compelled to watch this movie and judge it for myself. "An ancient Egyptian princess is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension."

Oct 6, 2017

Well this is a horror comedy I've been wanting to watch for a long time and Shocktober gave me the perfect excuse to check it out! "A young woman grieving the loss of her mother, a famous scream queen from the 1980s, finds herself pulled into the world of her mom's most famous movie. Reunited, the women must fight off the film's maniacal killer."

Sometimes when you dive into the bowels of Netflix you can discover some truly interesting films. This was recommended to me by a coworker and I have to admit, I was skeptical, but I gave it a shot and I'm glad I did. "A fun weekend turns into madness and horror for a bunch of groupies looking for fun in a beaver infested swamp." This movie is basically Night of the Living Dead with beavers and an interesting horror comedy worth your time.

While Tim Burton is a director with a legacy, and one that is generally well regarded, I've always been underwhelmed by his work. With the exception of one film. His interpretation of the classic tale of Sleepy Hollow. "Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people with the culprit being the legendary apparition, the Headless Horseman." Personally if Tim Burton built a career on period horror films I think he would have been my favorite director because, to me, this is one of the all time underrated films.

Well today's movie is an interesting one. The Eli Roth produced Clown. Before John Watts directed Spider-Man Homecoming, he spent some time in the slums with this little gem. "A loving father finds a clown suit for his son's birthday party, only to realize that it's cursed." Stephen King's IT isn't the only killer clown movie!

Shocktober continues! Today's episode is the Alfred Hitchcock classic Psycho. "A Phoenix secretary embezzles $40,000 from her employer's client, goes on the run, and checks into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother." Alfred Hitchcock is one of my favorite directors and Psycho is one of his films that I have somehow yet to see. How does it live up to it's Legacy?

Oct 1, 2017

Well it's my favorite time of year! The month where we can watch horror movies unabashedly from when the sun comes until it goes down. To celebrate the upcoming holiday Halloween, my favorite, I always prepare by trying to watch a horror movie every day in October. I call it Shocktober, and yeah so do a lot of other people but it's a great name so back off! Every day in October there will be a bonus episode of the podcast that will feature a review of a different horror film.

Today's movie is the 1990 version of Stephen King's IT. "In 1960, seven pre-teen outcasts fight an evil demon who poses as a child-killing clown. Thirty years later, they reunite to stop the demon once and for all when it returns to their hometown."

Now this is a script I've wanted to cover since the beginning of the show. Dark drama's with troubled characters are right up my alley. However I tried offering this script to a bunch of different guests and no one seemed interested in covering it with me, so I decided to take this one solo.

Written By:  Andy Friedhof

Logline: After negligently killing a hunter with their patrol car, an alcoholic Sheriff’s Deputy and her superior officer must decide what to do with the only witness to their crime – a death row inmate only days from execution.

Well this week we are back to talked about some shelved movie ideas! This week we don't have a script but there have been a lot of details coming out about the cancelled Amazing Spider-Man 3 and Sinister Six films that were scheduled from Sony before they decided to cut a deal with Marvel and recast Spidey for the third time. We also take a look at The Amazing Spider-Man franchise as a whole, and re-evaluate Spider-Man Homecoming before taking a deeper dive into the world of comic book movies.

This episode also features the song I'm Real by a good friend of mine, Josh Gash.

If you've followed me on this podcast at all you know I am a massive James Bond fan. With Bond 25 rumors and news flying out of the ether I figured now was the perfect time to revisit the last James Bond film SPECTRE. It was a film met with a mixed response and while it was a flawed film I still loved it. There was a lot of talk about how the early script had some third act issues and I was always curious as to what they were. Well I finally got my hands on the script that leaked out during the Sony hack and sit down to see what the original version of SPECTRE looked like.

Reviews featured are The Wolverine, Kong Skull Island, Split, The Warrior, and Atomic Blonde There's also some updates to the scripts we will be discussing in the future here.

The hype for The Last Jedi is still real and we continue our dive into the Star Wars Universe. Recently I showed my wife the original Star Wars for the first time and we keep the ball rolling as we move onto The Empire Strikes Back. My favorite movie of all time, and most often the Star Wars film that fans claim as the best, she gets to experience it for the first time and share her thoughts. What is a non fan's perspective of this classic entry in the biggest saga in the world?

There is a unique twists to today's commentary track. Ghostbusters is something that shaped my childhood. I watched the VHS tape so much that it stopped working, I made my own proton pack out of cardboard. Naturally when the remake happened it was something I avoided but always knew that one day I would have to see. I decided why not take you on that journey with me. I sat down and watched the film for the first time and recorded a live reaction commentary track. It's an interesting ride and decided to try this as an experiment.
