Today's episode is another commentary track! This time it's a solo commentary as the host Jeremy Meyer begins his coverage of the DCEU films by revisiting Man of Steel for the first time since it's theatrical release. This film will be covered again with a guest but this time Jeremy preferred to do it solo to establish his views on the DCEU's origin and to touch base with this film in particular. Before Batman fought Superman, before Wonder Woman, there was the solo Superman film that was highly polarizing. Now that future films have been released, how does the first one hold up?

So this is the of  many to come of our film commentary tracks. Now my wife has guested multiple times on the podcast and there's been one thing I've wanted to have her participate in for a long time. The bottom line is she has never seen Star Wars. It is one of my favorite movies of all time and is just something she didn't grow up with. We felt it was time to rectify that. We sat down and watched Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope for her first time and recorded her live thoughts and reactions. What follows is her first experience watching the classic film as I guider her through the journey.

Before Spider-Man Homecoming, before Amazing Spider-Man, before the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, even before James Cameron attempted to make a Spider-Man there was an early version of a Spider-Man movie in development. Years before there was a Marvel Cinematic Universe Cannon films was attempting to make the first movie featuring the web slinging hero. Cannon films eventually went under and the rights were sold off and the project ended up under James Cameron's thumb. This script is the original Cannon Films version that never came to be!

Well it's been six months into the year and it's time to take stock of the show so far. There are plenty of thanks to give out, some movies to review, and some top ten lists to discuss. More importantly there are some changes coming for the next few months. With things getting busy in the day to day there's going to be some different kind of episodes coming in the future and these should be very exciting, but as always we want to hear your feedback!

Well today's episode is actually a bonus episode, recorded a few weeks ago as a back up in case the Alien Engineers guest was going to be late. Things are getting busy on this end so there will be some different kinds of episodes in the future, on top of the script episodes. There is a big script episode planned very soon but in the meantime enjoy these different and, hopefully, interesting looks at some movies. Just like the last episode about Alien Engineers, this was recorded before the release of Alien Covenant so there are some predictions for that movie featured.

Logline: set in the late 21st century and centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as it follows a star map discovered among the artifacts of several ancient Earth cultures. This week one of the hosts of the Nerds and Marks podcast, Jordan Pryde, joins in to talk about the Batman vs Superman movie that almost was. The only public evidence of this movie was a billboard in the background of I Am Legend, this script simply titled "Asylum" was written by Shelved all star Andrew Kevin Walker. Deemed too dark, this script was eventually Shelved which lead us to Batman Begins, but is this script really that awful?

Written By: Andrew Kevin Walker

Logline: When an unknown villain's plot tries to pit the two top heroes of the world against each other, Batman is forced out of retirement and sent on a rampage of vengeance, leaving Superman with no choice but to stop his friend from breaking his vows.

Wonder Woman is the latest release in the DCEU, but join as we take a look back at what almost came before, when the director of The Avengers was almost the director of the Amazonian Princess herself. We are taking a look at Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman script written in 2006.

Written By: Joss Whedon

Logline: When the Princess of the Amazons is brought to the modern world, she discovers how cruel the world can be, and how desperate they are for a hero. Especially when she discovers one of the old gods is meddling with the humans.

The second of two scripts that inspired the podcast and comes just in time for Alien Covenant. Alien Engineers was the original script that eventually became Prometheus. Released in 2012, Prometheus was originally envisioned as the Alien prequel that had been rumored forever but during production the script was reworked to be a more original sci-fi film about the creation of humanity that just existed in the same cinematic universe. Now the original script still featured all of that, but also a lot more Aliens.

Written By: Jon Spaihts

Logline: set in the late 21st century and centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as it follows a star map discovered among the artifacts of several ancient Earth cultures. Seeking the origins of humanity, the crew arrives on a distant world and discovers a threat that could cause the extinction of the human species.

May 12, 2017

Well over the next few weeks we are going to covering a couple scripts that were the inspiration of this podcast. They have been mentioned time and time again but haven't been discussed and it's time to rectify that. This first week is a little script written by Kevin Smith called Superman Lives. Maybe one of the most famous un-produced scripts, there's even a documentary about the movies failed production. Now there have been many Superman movies that have already been released, but where does this one fall?

Written by: Kevin Smith

Logline: When Lex Luthor teams up with the cosmic entity Braniac, Superman faces his biggest struggle yet, one that will push him past his limits or see him die trying.

It's a furiously comic book filled episode as today contains a review of Furious 7 and Jeremy's top ten comic book movies of all time featuring titles like Spider-Man and The Dark Knight. Our script for this week is also celebrating the release of our latest comic book movie (Guardians of the Galaxy 2) and is based on one of the most recognizable comic characters of all time. I'll give you a hint. It's not Batman but the other guy. You can find the script on our tumblr www.shelvedfilmpodcast.tumblr.com. You can also follow the show on Twitter and Instagram @shelvedpodcast.

May 5, 2017

This is one of the most anticipated scripts of the show. We wanted to cover this one from the beginning and just had to wait for the right time. With Alien Covenant on the horizon now seemed like the perfect time. Don't worry, we didn't jump the gun on this one because we have another Alien script to cover when Covenant comes out. For now we sit back and look at an AVP script from 1991, inspired by the original 1989 comic book.

Written by: Peter Briggs

Logline: A backwater planet sets the stage for a hunting ground between two of the most ferocious hunters in the galaxy where humans are caught in the middle.

Ever since then the Halloween franchise has been in limbo with a new sequel only announced recently. Whatever happened to a third Rob Zombie movie? We find out this week as we read Halloween 3D, the un-produced sequel in the Rob Zombie line of Halloween films.
