I'm a massive Alfred Hitchcock fan and Psycho is one of my favorite films. The idea of making a sequel to that classic film twenty some odd years later is a fascinating concept to me. Does this much later sequel hold a candle to the original?

"After twenty-two years of psychiatric care, Norman Bates attempts to return to a life of solitude, but the specters of his crimes - and his mother - continue to haunt him."

Looking at another 2020 release today, Invisible Man is the next adaptation of one of the Universal Monster characters. After the failure that was the Tom Cruise The Mummy, Blumhouse takes a shot at a low budget take on one of the classic monsters.

"When Cecilia's abusive ex takes his own life and leaves her his fortune, she suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of coincidences turn lethal, Cecilia works to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see."

The Guest was a movie that I was longing to see and always seemed to miss it when it was streaming. This year however the stars finally aligned and The Guest hit Netflix just when I needed it most.

"A soldier introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence."

Today's episode of Shocktober 2020 features the first movie that actually came out in 2020. Just one of the few that actually made it out this year. The trailer and reaction caught my attention, but is it a good horror film?

I've been open about my love for Kevin Smith and his work, But Red State was one of his movies that had just missed me through the years. I had seen bits and pieces of Red State before but I've always wanted to get through the whole film, and Shocktober was the perfect excuse.

In the tradition of using Shocktober to check off movies that I missed, Don't Breathe is actually one of the first movies to make the cut. I really enjoyed The Evil Dead remake and this director blew me away so much that I knew I would watch any horror movie he made after.

It's hard to cover a whole month of horror films and not review at least one zombie movie. A short film turned into a whole feature, Cargo at least takes a unique spin on the genre. The main horror here is time, rather than the zombies or desperate humans, although they are there too.

The second Shocktober movie for 2020 is a late 2019 addition. A film called We Summon the Darkness. It's not rare for heavy metal to sneak into a horror film, but is this movie metal enough?

"Three best friends embark on a road trip to a heavy-metal show, where they bond with three aspiring musicians and head off to one of the girls' country home for an after-party."

It's the beginning of spooky season! My favorite season leading up to my favorite holiday. Every October I attempt to watch and review a horror film for every day in October. I call it Shocktober (did not make that up to be clear!) Today we start with the first film of the month, the 2019 film Ready or Not.

"A bride's wedding night takes a sinister turn when her eccentric new in-laws force her to take part in a terrifying game."

This honestly may be one of my favorite episodes of the podcast. Today I sat down with comic writer Joe Khachadurian (Identity Stunt) as we discuss the Image comics release of Kevin Smith's script turned comic for The Green Hornet. Written by Smith originally for a movie that was never made, the script was eventually revived and transformed into a comic book. Today we talk about that comic book and what movie we could have gotten, and compare it to the Seth Rogen movie we eventually did get.

Towards the end of 2017 a short video dropped onto the internet that got Resident Evil fans a buzz. The short was called Dave and it was described as being a pitch for a Resident Evil television show called Arklay. Today I sit down with one of the creators of the short Shawn Lebert. We talk about the making of the film and what the original hopes and plans were for a Resident Evil television show. We also discuss where he is and what he's doing today.

The short can be watched here - https://vimeo.com/239290092

Today's episode is one that I am really proud of. Long ago a movie website called Screened used to do a feature called Defending Your Movie. I used to love the feature and when the website ended I missed it a lot. So I decided to revive the idea on my podcast. I even reached out and got the original creators' permission. So this is our first attempt at doing just that. My good friend Adam Condra came on to talk about a movie that we both have a fondness for, 2012'2 Lockout starring Guy Pearce.

Today is a very special interview episode with our first film director. Dwight Little is most known for directing the sequel Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, but he's had a fascinating career. We talk about his early days of getting into film all the way up to the reason I wanted to talk to him in the first place, directing the Tekken movie. We also discuss his time working with Brandon Lee and Steven Seagal.

Well the show is officially back! After a long hiatus the first new episode is looking at a script I've been wanting to read for a long time now. Based on my all time favorite video game series, today we are looking at the script for the reboot of the Mortal Kombat film. There's a lot of new stuff to talk about at the beginning of the show and the future but I hope you enjoy the first episode back!

So I wasn't sure if I wanted to cover this or not as I've had a personal rule for the podcast from the beginning. I generally strayed away from scripts that I couldn't be 100% sure were authentic but in the end its impossible to be 100% sure if ANY of the scripts covered are authentic so I figured that this was at least worth covering.

On the last episode I sat down with a guest and we discussed the leaked bullet points from the alleged Star Wars script. Well that was going to be that but the next day when I was editing the episode I saw that the full script had leaked out. Well I didn't want to drag Nick back to re-record so I decided to go through the script and dive into the details in this more thorough look at the Duel of Fates script.

The Star Wars sequel trilogy has been a divisive series to say the least but most people seem to agree that The Rise of Skywalker felt more like fan service than a Last Jedi sequel. The question now is would the Trevorrow version have made any difference?

So allegedly a Reddit use got their hands on an early Episode IX script written by Colin Trevorrow before he was no longer attached to the project. Now apparently it has been independently verified which is what makes covering this feel okay to me. There was also some concept art out there that Trevorrow confirmed were from his version.
